Most clothing, shoes, backpacks and school supplies are tax-free when each item costs less than $100.

Tax-free: School uniforms, everyday clothes and shoes, diapers, backpacks, lunch boxes, calculators, binders, notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, glue and scissors.

Still taxed: Computers, textbooks, purses, wallets, jewelry, hair accessories, luggage, gym bags, sports equipment, helmets, pads and cleats.

Good to know:

• The $100 limit is per item, not per purchase.

• Items priced at exactly $100 do not qualify.

• Online purchases qualify if payment is submitted during the weekend.

• Shipping counts toward the $100 limit.
